The Cultch AGM & Movie Night!

The Cultch is hosting its Annual General Meeting and we would be thrilled if you could attend!

WHEN: Monday, 23 November 2009, 6 PM
WHERE: Historic Theatre at The Cultch, 1895 Venables St (at Victoria Dr,)

It's been an action packed year moving back into The Cultch and we’re looking forward to another exciting season ahead with great theatre, dance and music.

Membership is free and because of funding policies, it is imperative that our membership attend this meeting. In addition to the usual business, there are two special resolutions to be voted on by the membership, please see below for details.

Post-AGM Movie…The Producers
Immediately after the AGM, join us for the 1968 classic hit, The Producers, starring Zero Mostel and Gene Wilder, written and directed by Mel Brooks.

Special Resolutions:
A) That the Members of the Vancouver East Cultural Centre authorize the borrowing of up to $500,000 from the Vancouver City Savings Credit Union for the purposes of completing the construction of Phase 1 of the Capital Project; and that the assets of the Vancouver East Cultural Centre may be used to secure the loan.

B) That the Members of the Vancouver East Cultural Centre agree to adopt the revised Constitution and By-law changes as proposed.

Summary of changes:
- Article 3 (a) of the By-laws, change the number of term renewals for Directors from “one year term, followed by a maximum of two, two year terms” to “one year term, followed by a maximum of four, two year terms”.

- Insert a new Article as 3 (c) of the By-laws, “Notwithstanding clause (b), the Board of Directors may appoint for an indefinite term, up to two additional non-voting directors emeritus to provide insight and counsel to the Board of Directors.”

- Add a new sentence to end of Article 3 (d), “A director can serve as the Chair of the Board for two years with the possibility of a one year extension.”

- In addition there are minor editorial changes to both the Constitution and By-laws.
