November 27, 2009 Doors open at 6PM for a Silent Auction Performance at 7:30 PM The 4th Annual Grand Cariboo Opry will take place on November 27th, 2009. The Opry is a highly entertaining classic variety show hosted by Barney Bentall, who works through humorous monologues (think Prairie Home Companion) and fronts a big band consisting of the Legendary Hearts and special guests, augmented with lap steel, fiddle and piano. Everyone plays and everyone sings…sometimes all at once! The show is chalked full of music, humour, warm wit and unique sponsorship promotions reminiscent of another era. In just 3 years, this Opry fundraiser in support of the Potluck Café Society has raised enough funds to feed over 20,000 nutritious meals to neeedy residents of the Downtown Eastside.
