March 2nd @ 8pm Vancity Culture Lab This concert is the dubut performance of Ensemble Sisyphe. The artistic director, André Cormier, has inititated this enemble as a branch of his publishing house, Éditions Musique Sisyphe. The ensemble currnently consists of violist Robin Streb, vocalist and composer Andrea Young, and composer André Cormier. Three new works will be premiered: First, Cormier's "Conversations: Volume 1" which is the musical setting of the first 100 lines of Herménégilde Chiasson's poem 'Conversations.' Second, Young's "Kokinshu" consists of elaborations on five 10th c. Japanese poems in a musical setting for voice, piano and viola. Third, "I tell you again" is the collaborative composition by Cormier and Young that was commissioned or the Cultural Olympiad 2010. This piece is for voice and viola with computer assistance.
