The Cultch presents
PARIS IS BURNINGFilmed in the mid-to-late 1980s, this world-renowned documentary chronicles the ball culture of New York City and the poor, African American and Latino gay and transgendered community involved in it. Many consider Paris Is Burning to be an invaluable documentary of the end of the "Golden Age" of New York City drag balls, as well as a thoughtful exploration of race, class, and gender in America.
PLEASE NOTE: We have experienced an immediate and overwhelmingly positive response to our presentation of PARIS IS BURNING and as such have decided to add another showing. There will now be a 7pm AND a 9pm showing of Paris is Burning on Wednesday, January 11th in the Vancity Culture Lab at The Cultch.
Because of this overwhelming response, we are unable to hold reservations for this show. Access to the film will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Just a reminder that this event is taking place in the Vancity Culture Lab (not the Historic Theatre as originally indicated in the invite). As such, seating is extremely limited. We apologize for any inconvenience.
The Founders' Lounge will be open from 5:30pm - late if you would like to arrive early and have dinner or a drink.
