This is dance on the absolute edge! A must see for any dance fan.

VANCOUVER - An über-physical hybrid of precision and invention, Rubberbandance Group (RBDG) mixes up explosive hip-hop, contemporary and classical dance with energy that pops and sizzles. Victor Quijada is a total original who grew up on the streets of Los Angeles and was nicknamed "Rubberband" by b-boys and rappers for his unusually elastic dancing style. RBDG is a new fusion that involves an expansive, sophisticated approach to physicality, line and form.

The Cultch presents Elastic Perspective, a spectacular suite of dances to an eclectic and unlikely music mix that ignites competitive group fireworks with tango-inflected duets, lifts and spins.

Dancers include: Victor Quijada, Anne Plamondon, Joe Danny Aurélien, Julio Cesar Hong, Julia Gutsik, Lila Mae G. Talbot.

ABOUT RBDG
In 2002, after years of exploring dance and theater from urban, classical and contemporary angles, Victor Quijada, Artistic Director/Choreographer, formed Rubberbandance Group. His work with RBDG examines humanity and human relationships through a unique fusion of these dance and theatre styles. RBDG is a collection of world-class dancers from contemporary and breakdance backgrounds that unite to investigate human relationships through an innovative mix of hip hop dynamics and contemporary classicism.

Presenting choreographic works that effect and engage the audience, this extraordinary group articulates the perfect marriage between explosive hip hop physicality and the subtle profoundness of contemporary storytelling. A combination of the narrative, the spectacular and the freedom of breakdance, with the abstraction, nuances and technique of contemporary dance, result in a true hybrid of dance forms.

"an absolute delight... Rubberbandance is clearly heading for international glory." - The Globe & Mail

Since its inception, RBDG has been a sought after guest at both hip hop and contemporary dance festivals throughout North America, Europe, and recently in Japan as a Canadian representative at EXPO 2005. A well-known member of the Montreal dance community and resident company ('03 /'04) of Usine C, Rubberbandance Group is best known for the innovative site-specific work Slicing Static (Best Dance Production of 2004 - Montreal Mirror). Other highlights include performances at Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, Bumbershoot Music and Arts Festival, the Fall for Dance Festival at City Center in New York, Breakin' Convention at Sadler's Wells in London, ACT Festival '04 at the Rotterdamse Schouwsberg in Holland and URB Festivaali at Kiasma in Helsinki, Finland.
