The Cultch presents
THOMAS
ARTHUR
The Lyrical
Juggler
"Arthur commands his objects to
hover and whiz, spin and caper with the rhythmic finesse of a conductor. It's a
mind-blowing revelation. The first time this subdued critic saw Arthur perform,
she screamed for more until hoarse." - Lodi McClellan, Seattle
Weekly
LUMINOUS
EDGE
It's a
family show!
April 24 - 26, 7
PM
Advance tickets: $25 adults; $21 kids, students
& seniors (plus service charges)
A tour de force solo performance
pointing to a unity of nature, nurture, mathematics, art, science and mythology.
In a masterful weaving of sound and motion, lyrical juggler Thomas Arthur explores the
nature of order. With a supporting cast of orbiting spheres, hoops, spirals,
geometric solids, roots, sticks, stones and cones - and even a parabolic
space-time tunnel! - Thomas spins a hypnotic flowing dance of visual music,
poetic narration and projected imagery.
Luminous Edge tells the story of a Wizard's
apprentice and his struggle to learn new ways of being in a world on the verge
of collapse. How do we learn to cooperate with the natural flow instead of
trying to control it? The apprentice seeks to integrate the genius of the Wizard
with the heart of the Shaman as he explores magical patterns reflected in
geometric shapes and the objects of nature.

In a masterful weaving of sound and
motion, lyrical juggler Thomas Arthur, performing to an original musical score
by composer Paul Ely Smith, presents the full-length kids' show AirPlay.
With a supporting cast of
orbiting hoops, spheres, spirals, sticks, stones and cones (and a
fully-functioning space time tunnel), Arthur spins a hypnotic flowing dance of
visual music synchronized with Smith's original compositions for guitar and
fiddle. Audience participation involves young and old alike in games of rhythm,
balance and coordination.
